The pastel hues of the houses in Silwan are accentuated with the first flush of morning light. In my composition, taken from Giv’at Hanania, the full-frame image is compressed with the use of a 200mm lens creating an abstract impression. The ambient light has eliminated shadows and the intermittently placed burnt orange roofs complement the colour palette. This contested real estate close to the Temple Mount constitutes part of Jerusalem’s Holy Basin and is bordered by the City of David, Abu Tor and the Mount of Olives.
